Solitary Shadows...

Solitary Shadows...

A Poem by Michael G

Solitary shadows...
drinks poured for one,
dinner alone...
and no one singing
to the music with me.

Monks understand
the solitude,
living alone in the monastery.
Monks know the singleness
of solitary shadows.

A tree cast a single shadow
a sign post the same.
But that's not the way
a person should be...
not the way
it's meant to be.

I don't want to cast a
solitary shadow anymore.
I want to see two
walking together
down the beach.
I want to know
the cool shade
of your shadow
as it blends so well with me.

Solitary shadows...
need other solitary shadows...
need to know they don't stand alone.
Solitary shadows need to blend
with others...
and watch them grow larger
as the sun goes down.

I'm a solitary shadow.
Afraid I'll be this way
at the end of the day.

I'm a solitary shadow.
Do I forever
have to stay this way?

If my words make you smile, think, remember, or feel something that you thought was forgotten ... or that you only thought you felt that way and no one else did ... then they did exactly what I wante.. more..
