Taking You Into Memory...
A Poem by Michael G
Don't go yet...
I'm still burning to memory
the way you look right now.
I know the whole of you...
and the best of you,
I'm working on the small parts.
The turn of your ear...
the little crinkle
at your eyes and mouth
when you smile.
The change of expression
when you are saying good-bye.
So many little parts
that make up the whole of you.
A slight narrowing in your eyes
when you're serious
about something.
The sparkle of your eyes
that flash brightly
when you're just playing.
And the look
you give me
that is better than any gift
ever received.
Yes...
your body is fabulous.
(Twenty somethings envy your forty something physique.)
Your long, lean tanned legs,
the perfect smile...
the eyes that hold me
in complete awe.
Even the small turn to the toes
from your rest of your foot.
All these things
are wonderful.
But I'm looking
at the smallest of things.
Measuring them and wondering
about them.
And hearing myself
saying,
"Yes, I love that about her, too."
You see,
anyone can admire
the obvious parts.
Anyone can look and think
now that's very nice.
But not many will look closer
and see the total
beauty of you.
So, if you don't mind...
give me a couple more minutes...
perhaps an hour or two...
or a few days...
or years... decades...
to memorize
and love the completeness
of you.
I don't want
to take a chance and miss something
that would cause me
to love you
more.

If my words make you smile, think, remember, or feel something that you thought was forgotten ... or that you only thought you felt that way and no one else did ... then they did exactly what I wante.. more..
