WarA Poem by micahdA poem I was inspired to write a while back, just displaying the violence and tragedy that is prevalent in war.War
War by definition is utter devastation
It comes like a plague and sweeps through a nation
It goes unrecognized for the disease that it is
So without getting it sorted people pass it down to their kids
War makes the nation get high like a powerful drug
Internal feuds forgotten the nation bands together in love
High off of war the people think our nation is heaven
Then the high gets brought down like the towers in 9/11
As we look across the battlefields which are simply fields full of blood and carnage
Littered all over the floor are hearts, livers, brains, and arteries
Families get that feared knock on the door
Where there told siblings, parents, partners, and kids won’t be coming home no more
Homes become broken, lives fall apart
People start to ask, why did this war ever start
Whole families are lost, and the nation is sympathising
But the war carries on and the death toll is still rising
Until one day over the air waves you hear the war is done
That at long last after all this time the troops are returning that are gone
On the news you see the nation’s leaders excited behaviour
And you realize that the war seems to have ended in our favour
But how are you going to tell the families of the lost ones that the war is won
That the country is better off now, when their loved ones have gone
Cause in their eyes victory came at far to great a cost
So as far as their concerned both sides must have lost © 2014 micahdReviews
