With Memories

With Memories

A Poem by Lorelei Middlesex
"

Graduation song. We'll sing...

"

I recall that night we talked for hours till the sun came up
We talked about the future and if we’d meet up
After all this drama that scared the both of us
What we had was just right for us

I remember the time we pledged that weakness was for fools
Well pardon me while I cave in and break the truce
Don’t you think of crying or I’ll start crying too

CHORUS
Now we’re drifting out into a whole new life
I need your arms to grasp me and to hold me tight
Before the seconds vanish on a day like this
I’ll know that we are leaving with memories
     To wish

Can you still remember all the fights we had?
I did stupid things that made you so mad
But when it came to friendships we both gave it our all
Sometimes I wish this wouldn’t have to happen at all
But it’s the fated contract all that we have left
Is to stick together and to hope for the best
When it’s time to go and time to turn our backs
We’ll sing

CHORUS

We’ll sing

CHORUS

Author's Note

Lorelei Middlesex
I wrote this for our graduation song. We were divided into groups and each group had to come up with a song--both lyrics and melody. Ours wasn't picked, though.
