Anchor

Anchor

A Poem by Mia C.

Tied to an anchor sinking to the bottom of the ocean floor,

Not able to cut lose and escape to shore.

Death approaching at a rapid pace,

one is hoping to enter a better place.

eyes are shut tightly,

still conscious, but only slightly.

The road ends here in this cold empty place,

the soul patiently waits for the light it hopes to face.

There is nothing more left to this last tragic chapter,

for not all stories end with “happily ever after”.
