Everywhere

Everywhere

A Poem by miala milami

Everywhere I've been
And everywhere I'll go
I feel the recognition
of someone i lost long ago.
You're standing behind my shoulder
But when i turn around
My eager eyes, still seeking
Cannot find a thing.
You whisper in my ear
When I'm in line at the grocery store
I forget to pay, because of your distraction
Tears blind me when i leave.
You tease me with the scent of your perfume
I follow it desperately, like a hunting dog on a trail
Until i see its owner-a woman so unlike you
Disappointment clouds me more than the flowery scent.
The ghost of you still haunts me,
i fear it always will
You curl up beside me
When i go to sleep at night
I never wanted you to leave
Maybe that was my mistake
Maybe that's why you still linger
Maybe you can't leave.
I hope i haven't trapped you
No matter how much i've missed you
Because i don't think i can bear it
If you never leave
Because everywhere i've been
And everywhere i'll go
You follow me, a beautiful haunting
Tearing me apart.
