The Finer Things in LifeA Poem by mia2014It's just like the title says; in this case it's about romance and my opinion on what I think is right and wrong and how religion can sometimes try and get in the way of 'the finer things in life'.I wish the people who despise The finer things in life: That a man can be with a man Or a woman with her wife But it's perfectly ok For them to turn the world grey And say that a man must take a mistress -And it will all be ok! I wish they'd realize That they're making no sense With the words that they speak; They're not common sense! If they'd only take a good hard look In the Big Fat Book Then surely they would see What they misunderstood That He does Not hate The finer things in life: That a man could be with a man, or a woman with her wife... Cause we love who we love Whether they're make Or female And they say that love is blind As is The Creator's love For those who self-deprecate, Turning this world into a place of hate. Where the gay fish can sometimes be sent- running, screaming- to the shore, When somebody shouts: ''gay fish shouldn't inhabit this ocean- no, no more!'' Where a neighbour can turn a blind eye on their once dear friend, Allowing then to suffocate in a land without amends. But God told us Not to hate; He told us to love Our neighbours like ourselves, So why Shouldn't one man shack in another man's house? Gay people shouldn't marry straight people Or straight people gays But that Doesn't mean we need live with someone whom we don't really love till the end of our days, Because God gives us choices in life, And that would be a very silly choice to make. © 2015 mia2014Author's Note
