Terror

Terror

A Poem by mhylands

Circling over me, breathing down my neck
Creeping in the dark, haunting the air I breathe

Walls I have become blinded to
Needles piercing every part of me
I just want to numb the pain

Free me from all feeling
The shadow weighs down on my chest
Suffocating the very soul of me

Paralyzed, terrified
Unable to hear my voice
Unable to feel my hand

Show me the light I know must be there
Suck out the poison and drain me of this fear

Set in motion the hourglass and...
Count as scarlet tears swim down my face
Held back from ever knowing
Why I can no longer see...

Standing in the doorway
Watching me with such intent
While they crawl like insects
The confines of this chamber

Silence...

A hand clenches my face
Slicing flesh with icy daggers
Bleeding into me
Crawling from inside

I just want to tear off my skin
Rip out the spiders
My plague...

Unable to hear my voice
Unable to feel my hand
