Silent Vows

Silent Vows

A Poem by mhylands

Breaking the silence with empty words
These thoughts have fallen on deaf ears
A conversation spent on nothingness
Lingering solely on the meaningless
Cathartic passage of existence
Neglecting our vital demands
Another fallacy of interaction
Simply to appease the laws of attraction
In the absence, a stifling quiet
Dismissal by the masochist of relegated cognition
Gripping tight to the deceit
Unamended in the seasons passed
Sharp hook, shredding from within
Tearing deep into scarred flesh
The macabre midnight masquerade
In eternal twilight
