Impasse

Impasse

A Poem by mhylands

Incoherent whispers, sirens of the black
Leading me astray as I traverse the outskirts of my mind
Concealing the truth and obscuring all within sight
Bound to a path laid before me
Treacherous cliffs aligning sideways as the line narrows
A deception insurmountable and convincing
Impasse to understanding the connections
To escape a programmed existence
Irreconcilable to an internal awakening
Resistance against awareness of consequence
A blind eye deviates from the sky to keep a man grounded
When all I desire is to fly into the great expanse
