Toxic

Toxic

A Poem by mhylands

Crawl out from under the soil
Infested by a life long decayed
This toxic wasteland devours souls and takes possession
The struggle perpetuates an acrid relapse
At fault for succumbing to the veratrum
Left in solitude to atrophy
As acid rain torches the skies and seeps through bedrock
Infiltrating the veins, decomposing
Breaking every will to exist
Tormented by the severance
Burdened by the sentence
Fallow and insignificant
Bound to be subservient
Predisposed to wallow in the crushing sorrow
Trudging an incessant crucible of pestilence
Absent of any pathways to follow
Consumed by the subsistent ambivalence
