Never to Return

Never to Return

A Poem by mhylands

I'm still waiting for that final push
To get through this empty door frame
Out to where I am free to roam
Never to look back
Never to return

To leave without any burdens
I won't have to suffer regret
But, I carry this heavy burden
My feet cemented at the entrance

Even with this opening in front of me
I feel cornered and helpless to fate
Covering my eyes, desperately trying to forget
Burned into my thoughts, it is already too late

I am pleading for that final push
An excuse I am unable to make
So I can finally leave this place
Never to look back
Never to return

Please...
