Overdose

Overdose

A Poem by mhylands

As night blankets these inner skies
As I am enveloped within lies
I close my eyes and reminisce
Before consumed by infectious sties

As acid rains sear my flesh
As I convulse, asphyxiate, and thresh
Eroding into an unrecognizable corpse
To be decomposed, and with the earth, enmesh

I lack the will to ascertain
Verity of what is left to remain
Nameless and deteriorated from all the pain
There lies so much I cannot explain

In elegant fashion, I will destroy you
A conquest in ecstasy
To repeat endlessly so as to
Overdose and lose empathy

Lingering amiss sensibility
Straining to retain my sanity
Longing for a futile possibility
No longer a pragmatic rationality

Pathetic and distraught
Anguished by this thought
Devaluing when I fought
To attain all I sought
