The Scorn, pt.VI

The Scorn, pt.VI

A Poem by mhylands

A new day finally dawned
But, set before I could bask in it
I am completely destroyed
Agony in every step, every breath
My own cruel punishment
Twisted and merciless
I am drowning, vision fading
Why must I do this
I only have myself to blame
For my inability to move forward
Endless fall from the heavens
Just let me make impact
This sensation of terror
I plead for it to end
Outside, I am stern...cold
Inside, I am broken
Truly lost to madness
I wish this bucket
Could save a sinking ship
Every time a balance is found
Another leak bursts through
I cannot save this ship on my own
I am alone in the ocean
Plummeting for eternity
Ever praying to make it to solid ground
I fear that will not be
Blinded, I am
Unwilling to compromise
Degradation, separation
Grasping at fragile strings
Unable to withstand
Drowned sparrow...
