Return

Return

A Poem by mhylands

This land eternally forsaken

Never to return to its former glory

A nesting place for fallen angels

Blood stricken skies and eclipsed sun

Fields laden with countless mounds

Graves erected by the plague

Eerie, the tension in this silence

A conquered hatred, festering malevolence

Still, the hand of iron

Grasping the reality afore

Veins of life severed

Let to waste in shame

Faults shift as the stench spreads

Sulfur and brimstone summoning

A beast of fire and death

To reclaim the barren wasteland

A distant eruption disturbs the silence

The explosive power of untold violence

The air caught ablaze from the inferno

Cremating the remnants of all it encounters

And like the plague before

The menace spreads near and far

Hungering for those strands of life

Clinging to this plane no more
