Collection of Short Prose, pt.III

A Poem by mhylands
"

A collection of short prose bits and pieces

"

Tepid uncertainties guide our fate

Marring the once pristine slate

And for the consequences, we must wait

Shaping our lives bound with restraint

A pawn in this one sided game

Played by an infallible absolute

Unacquainted with a sense of shame

Unmoved by the desires of blame

This endless struggle, wrestling the truth

A permanent scar, a fault uncouth

The joys of life a fleeting memory

As destiny shrouds the faint flickering

∴              ∥              ∴              ∥              ∴

When every eye stares into your soul, where can you escape

A million thoughts in an endless deluge

Your attempts to order them and dam the flood are futile

At any moment, the fear of breaking looms ever closer

You desperately gasp for air as the torrent overwhelms

The rip tide threatening to drown

Choking, pleading for a quick ending

Merciless, unyielding, death latches on

A tormented soul, plagued for an eternity

Suffer in absolution, condemned for existing

The shaking refusing to calm

A plummet into a calloused void

∴              ∥              ∴              ∥              ∴

Without a thought, I was alone

Left to my own devices

I always fought, but never won

Will this be what suffices?
