When I Sleep

When I Sleep

A Poem by mhylands

I was in a trance for so long

Blinded and misguided, when did things go wrong?

Dancing with shadows in darkness so cold

You made a fool out of me, how could you drag me along?

(I cannot see) what is in front of me

(I cannot breathe) you sucked the life out of me

(You took it all) with no remorse for the pain, and

When I sleep, your face still haunts my dreams

A beautiful sunrise reaches for the skies
But this cloud of disgust still shrouds my eyes

A tripointed affair witnessed by all

Unwilling to compare the embittered downfall

Shaking in fear from the thoughts untold

Relentless antagonist as the events unfold

(I cannot see) what is in front of me

(I cannot breathe) you sucked the life out of me

(You took it all) with no remorse for the pain, and

When I sleep, your face still haunts my dreams

I'm left longing for days, unable to be satisfied (satisfied)

A harsh chill creeps up from deep within my soul (my soul)

That after all this time saying that you loved me, you lied (you lied)

Leaving me with nothing but this hand of despair, I fold (I fold)
