Captive

Captive

A Poem by mhylands

Step forth, right here

Watch the show unfold

Bound wrist, noose tight

The captive punishment

Here now, stands a man

Full of greed and sin

Lost cause with no hope

Ready for the curtain’s fall

Any words if you please

Let’s hear those desperate pleas

Right now your life is on the line

Speak now for soon you will die

There’s no one

To save you

Beg for your life

Pray for your soul

Awake from the daze that blinds you

Unveil the truth that reveals you

Skies blacken the cursed sun

Seas bleed red and fires burn

Were these faults my undoing?

Marching in stride with no free will

I strictly held to the path before me

Am I captive to fate?

Was I born simply to die?

I will not rest, if this is my end

Born to die unwillingly

Fate bound, chained down for eternity

Captive, convict, enslaved

Captive, convict, enslaved

Captive, convict, enslaved

Captive, convict, never to be saved
