Crimson Letter

Crimson Letter

A Poem by mhylands

In the dead of night, when spirits shine bright

A calming silence cloaks all within sight

Assurance, whispers that all is right

A desk drawer ajar, enticing curiosity

Peering in, lies a letter unopened

Sealed, and a name marred, crimson smeared

The air thickens, the spirits uneasy

A stifling tension arises from one touch

Fatigue strikes and the hand grows heavy

An ominous feeling closes in

What a treasure, such a find

A cursed secret, yet so divine

A burst of light consumes the shadows

Leaving, forever, no trace of their existence

The cold heart now a dense rock

Hiding secrets and shadow under key and lock

Until the end of this temporal cell

Fallen into the infernal hell
