Sacred Slumber

Sacred Slumber

A Poem by mhylands
"

Another combination piece. Paranoia, insomnia, anxiety, depression...

"

I am a lucid dream to the illusionary slumber

Wading in a cesspool of forgotten memory

An insignificant host to the collective subconscious

Keep to the path set forth

Or fade into the distance

Procure the shiv and I

Run it straight through

[Paranoia]

When the mist clouds our vision

How can we take care of all we hold dear

In this battlefield where all is fair game

No securities remain

Paranoid of everything and nothing

Hearing voices feeding the temptation to hate

No drugs to numb the pain

No solace in what is to come

What is it that hides behind this illusion?

[Death, deceit, and unforgiveable transgressions]

Can I even break down this façade?

[And reveal the dark truth of reality?]

I glance around me

Noticing what looks like a world unspoiled

Yet I can see my own body decayed and bloodied

This sanctuary should not be tainted by my imperfection

But nothing appears to stir while I seem to wither away

Drifting in and out of a daze

I'm met with a wave of confusion

Everything lacks feeling and a sense of existence

I can see everything so clearly

Still I become overwhelmed

By the hollowed stimulation

I know I'm not insane...

A fire grows within, I feel sick, and soon I will break,

What hell has been presented before me?

Where is the light?

It has been eclipsed by something unfamiliar

And terror arises

Tragedy cannot describe this experience...
