Lost In Silence

Lost In Silence

A Poem by mhylands
"

Lyrics for my death metal band.

"

In the absence of an awakened mind

I seem to find

A betrayal of enlightened thought

A withering decay

Slipping into senselessness

A void, a cold

Instigator of eternal rest

It opens my eyes

A blinding truth untold

Don’t you see the towers, a fallen glory

Blackened, smote fantasies

Deities to hope and strength

Still and quiet, forsaken

Lost in silence

Dawning the tides of brailed reason

Echoed sonance, decayed memory

Haunting images, harbored treason

A mind of solitude falls apart

In the presence of a brazened kind

When light can’t shine

A lingering thought takes hold

It’s biting down

Resting on false promises

A bitter frost burns

Cold within a blackened heart

In frozen malice

Leaving, never to return

Favors unpaid

Chastising naivety with hands

Scarred and calloused
