Love and Prey

Love and Prey

A Poem by Matthew C Hunt

Like the hunter it chases after you
What good is there to hide
A thing for which armies have died
With an arrow it got me, telling me what to do
Took it like poison, it's quite a thrill
If denied, the heart says it might just kill
It burns you down and raises you from death
A wonderful way to drown, so take in a deep breath
That is the way of love, my dear
It bleeds and it mends (but nothing to fear)
It's really quite nice, after all it did bring you here

And here it comes. You're a target and with that feeling you seem kind of wounded.
It's not a god. He is a hunter. And armed with fine archery, they call him Cupid.
