Sterotypes

Sterotypes

A Poem by Hoskinsish

Stereotypes

I wish you could see me for me,

And not what everyone has made me out to be.

I wish you could see me as a human being,

Who is much more than simply what you are seeing.

I wish you could feel the pain and shame,

That the stigma of being different contains.

I wish you could feel what your hateful words have done to me,

Wish you could see all the scars they have carved into me.

I wish the same thing as you, I wish we could see each other as the human beings we are. Sometimes it is difficult to get past what our society has taught us, but it is worth it, these words make me ponder what stereotypes I see in others, and what I can do to stop doing that. Well done!

This a very good poem, make me think how hurtful stereotyping people can be, sometime I may find myself doing that and I have to stop an say that person is more than what I see right now or what presented in front of me. Keep writing!
