An Army Wife's NightmareA Poem by HoskinsishAn Army Wife’s
Nightmare I wish I knew that
you were okay, That nothing is
like what they say. That you hadn’t put
on your uniform And walked out
into the storm. That the bomb
never went off And you’re safe
inside your loft. Instead I’m here,
lying on the cold floor, Hoping that you’ll
come through the door. That at any moment
I’ll see your smile, And know that all
of my tears weren’t worthwhile. That they were
just playing a cruel joke, That you weren’t inside
all of that terrible smoke. I wish you were on
your way back here, Instead of lying
wounded, your life about to disappear. But I have a
feeling your commanders weren’t lying, That you truly are
dying. And I feel like there’s
nothing I can do Because I’m a
million miles away from you. © 2011 HoskinsishReviews
