Empty WishesA Poem by HoskinsishI wish I could have found the
words to make you happy, Been the girl that made you
smile, Made your life worthwhile. I wish you could have seen
how much I loved you, How without you my life was incomplete, Even though loving you was
bittersweet. I wish I could go back in
time, Make you understand how I
felt, Make you pay for every welt. I wish you would have just
left me alone, Let me go on my way, Instead you begged me to
stay. I wish I would have
listened, Listened to my mother who
saw every bruise, Instead I lied for you and
blamed it on the booze. Oh, how I wish you would
have learned not to hit a girl, But that is asking for too
much, And wishes are for chumps. © 2011 HoskinsishReviews
