Of Snowflakes and Silent Flames (The Song I Could Never Sing)

A Poem by Undying Glory
"

Forgive me for the long title hehe. Another song/poem dedicated to someone very very special...

"

Of Snowflakes and Silent Flames (The Song I Could Never Sing)

Scatter the ashes of my words to the silent seas

A letter I could never send

Across dark violet skies shrouding the distant trees

You know you’ll always be my friend

Moonlight shines upon the flowing streams

Of the memories I’ll always keep

Like how you smile as you sail in the oceans of dreams

High upon the soft clouds you sleep

Our story unfolds into the night

Embracing the cold into the light

Snowflakes are spiralling, floating down

Sparkling in the depths of your eyes all around

Silent flames echo, a memory you can’t let go

Is calling out from the shadows and the soft snowy ground

I’ll be the stars in your night

As you gently float by on clouds of white

I’ll be the one who would always care

When you’re sad and in pain, and nobody’s there

I’ll hold you close in the rain

One of the things I could never explain

For if only you could see how much you mean to me

As the sun sets over the sea

Another coming of the dawn upon a tranquil forest of songs

Upon the crimson hues of the sun

The words I could never say to you for so long

Resonate within with all the sadness undone

Silent springs gush forth from the ice, another day’s surprise

Gathering forth from the depths of the world

Hearing your voice in the night, upon the moon shining bright

As another moment slowly begins to unfurl

These moments slowly slip away

Yet the memories would never fade

Snowflakes are spiralling, floating down

Sparkling in the depths of your eyes all around

Silent flames echo, a memory you can’t let go

Is calling out from the shadows and the soft snowy ground

I’ll be the stars in your night

As you gently float by on clouds of white

I’ll be the one who would always care

When you’re sad and in pain, and nobody’s there

I’ll hold you close in the rain

One of the things I could never explain

For if only you could see how much you mean to me

As the sun sets over the sea

If only you knew how beautiful you are to me

Like forests of splendid hues, rivers flowing forth to eternity

I’ll be there whenever you cry, mend your wings so you can fly

Just one of the things that I hope someday you’ll see

Snowflakes are spiralling, floating down

Sparkling in the depths of your eyes all around

Silent flames echo, a memory you can’t let go

Is calling out from the shadows and the soft snowy ground

I’ll be the stars in your night

As you gently float by on clouds of white

I’ll be the one who would always care

When you’re sad and in pain, and nobody’s there

I’ll hold you close in the rain

One of the things I could never explain

For if only you could see how much you mean to me

As the sun sets over the sea

CODA

These are just a few of the things

That only time can tell

I’m so sorry you had to hear this

Through the voice of someone else

So as you sleep, upon valleys deep

Look forth to what tomorrow brings

For these are the melodies and lyrics of

The song I could never sing

Author's Note

Undying Glory
This one is called "The Song I Could Never Sing" for one simple reason.
I suck at singing.
I know. That must be the lamest excuse ever. But seriously, if someone's singing sucks, he/she would be booed off the stage faster that you can say "What the hell just happened?" even if the song was very good.
So if I do perform this one, I would be playing an instrument while someone else would be singing. I think then the message would become clear.
Just clarifying things...

It is best to live life to your fullest when you are young as passion is the warmest then and life so much more simple..as we age..problems of life pop up and we often forget romantic things and that is a shame..Kathie

I love those two stanzas! I am in the same position. I write songs but I cannot sing, so I completely understand. I once found a quote that said "Virtually every writer I know would rather be a musician." And that is so very true, at least to me. But hey, aren't musicians writers as well?
Anyway, very great write! Thank you for sharing!

This is very beautiful, and I would love to hear music to this.

We all have regrets about how we are not able to express what we really felt .. Usually the stronger the emotion, the harder it is to express in words. You have done a wonderful job by expressing it in this poem.
