Take a look in the mirror

I know you don't like what you see

But can't you see your beauty deep within

That shines above it all

Never let your spirit wither

Though they may laugh at you and me

But I swear I'll wipe away all the tears you cried

And I'll catch you every time you fall

And I know how you feel, like you won't be the one

The special someone we're all looking for

I know you feel so alone, like there's nowhere to run

And like you'll stay this way forevermore

But don't you know how special you are to me

So just ignore everything they say

Stay here with me now, can't you see what I see?

Take my hand, together we'll find our way

Deep within your heart you shine

Brighter than the moon or the sun

This is beauty redefined

Don't you know you're the one

And don't you know you're better than all of them

Like the stars shining over the distant lands

And I just know how this will end

So I'm proud to call you my friend

I know you don't like what they do

No matter what will come

This is something I needed to read, because there are times when I look in the mirror and don't feel to good about myself. Even though this was written a few years back, its still relevant today...... a great and encouraging poem too.

You're the one guy who isn't.

There were a few moment where the rhyming was a little forced, and even where there seemed to be no rhyme at all, but other than that, this is a very sweet poem. I like that you repeated the stanza beginning "Deep within your heart". This made it sound like a song.

It's a sentiment most young people feel, that they aren't beautiful or worthy. It's nice to see someone addressing that in a poem, love of self and everyone rather than romantic love. Also nice to see someone addressing the stereotype that men are shallow and superficial. Nice write.
