Midnight

Midnight

A Poem by Undying Glory
"

Something I wrote about my friend, whom i haven't seen in ages...

"
Midnight

Four years have passed me by
Since I last saw your face
Through long-lost memories, in my broken mind
You were always my saving grace

As I close my eyes, your smile haunts my dreams
From happy memories so far gone
But now it seems you're so hard to find
Though I pray so much that I'm wrong

So how could I have been so blind
Not to treasure the one I had?
Now I'm standing here, wishing I could turn back time
So I would never feel this sad

Wherever you are, wherever you'll be
I'll keep searching till I find you
Across the deep blue skies and the distant seas
You know everything we had
It was all so true

And now you're gone
And I'm waiting here alone
Wishing I could change it all again
(But deep down I know
There's no more tomorrow)
I've missed you too long
Staring down at my phone
Your picture's all I have for the pain
(But deep down I know
There's just too much sorrow)
Waiting for the day when I'll see your face again
Across fields of green and golden sand

Four years have passed me by
And it's been pure bitterness every day
Watching the rain fall across the darkened sky
Wishing you weren't so far away

I really should have thought twice, but now it's all too late
Oh how I wonder where you are
Maybe I should just accept it, just accept my fate
Yet it'll never heal my scars

So how could I have been so blind
Not to cherish the days we shared?
Now I'm broken here, don't wanna leave the days behind
Though I didn't show it, I really cared

Wherever you are, wherever you'll be
I hope I find you in the end
But this I swear, I swear you'll see
You were such a wonderful friend
Such a wonderful friend

And now you're gone
And I'm waiting here alone
Wishing I could change it all again
(But deep down I know
There's no more tomorrow)
I've missed you too long
Staring down at my phone
Your picture's all I have for the pain
(But deep down I know
There's just too much sorrow)
Waiting for the day when I'll see your face again
Across fields of green and golden sand

Now the clock is stuck on midnight
And I'm here all alone
Though the moon is shining so bright
I'm a million miles from home
I call out through the darkness
Through the regret that shrouds me now
So if you're listening, don't give up on me
I know I'll find you somehow

And now you're gone
And I'm waiting here alone
Wishing I could change it all again
(But deep down I know
There's no more tomorrow)
I've missed you too long
Staring down at my phone
Your picture's all I have for the pain
(But deep down I know
There's just too much sorrow)
Waiting for the day when I'll see your face again
Across fields of green and golden sand

Very sad and deep write. Could almost put this to music.

It is a very sentimental and personal piece without a doubt. Any poem dedicated or written for somebody is special, so dont let what I say take away from that :)

The poem is very cliche, but then again, this kind of poem cant help but be just that (there's only so many ways to say I miss you). The rhyming is nice, though a bit forced here and there.

I think,
"You were such a wonderful friend
Such a wonderful friend" - could benefit from "indeed" at the end of the 2nd line. Does well to reinforce.

Well done.

So sad, I wanted to hold your hand as you waited. It's hard to part with those we've loved so dearly. Beautiful heart-felt poem. I enjoyed the voice and the style of the write.

This is very meaningful and promising. Anyone who reads know that you like serious relationships not any thats treated like a joke. Reading this poem to me felt like you saying a commitment to somebody. This poem surprised me as it is a strong. Anyone would be lucky to have you as your not like anyone I have ever met. There are lots of people out there that never takes life seriously but you do. Thats something you should be proud of

Nicely written. The rhythm is good, and I like the rhyme scheme. It's descriptive and full of emotion. My favorite stanza is this one:
"Wherever you are, wherever you'll be
I'll keep searching till I find you
Across the deep blue skies and the distant seas
You know everything we had
It was all so true"

Great job!

A very sad poem. Life is unfair. Some memories are scars on our minds that are permanent. The story of the missed woman is a memory to bring smiles when we are old. Sadness when the separation is near in time. The flow and story was very strong. A powerful poem.
