My first duet song/poem, about achieving your dreams. Enjoy!

Out From The Darkness

Him: In the darkness that surrounds me

Shattered dreams are all that I see

And I'm staring across my fallen hopes

And their words

Her: They say I'm not good enough to make it

Forget everything, and don't fake it

As their mocking laughs echo round

How it hurts

Him: Let them laugh, but I'm gonna make it

For all my hopes and dreams

Her: It's my chance, and I'm gonna take it

'Cause that's what I believe

Both: And with you I'll soar with my dreams to the distant sky

'Cause we're gonna prove we can make it if we try

So take my hand now

Both: Fly on our dreams forever

Not stopping now, not ever

We're gonna show the world who we really are

Stand alone in this small town

And get up when we fall down

Hold you now as we reach for the distant stars

And out from the darkness, we soar into the sky

'Cause our dreams never die

Him: Like the sun breaking out after a storm

Now I see what I never saw before

And I'm searching for all the answers

In your eyes

Her: Like the leaves tumbling from trees in the fall

I'm among a thousand stories never told at all

And it's still too hard for us just to

Ignore the lies

Him: Let them think we're the misfits

But we know what we're fighting for

Her: And I know we can all be special

Yeah we can all be something more

Both: And with you I'll stay as the darkness falls around

Though I just can't take the pain

Author's Note

Sorry if it's a little long...
I wrote this after watching an episode of "Glee". lolol
but either way i was struck by everything, about how everyone in the club was ostracized by everyone else. yet they seemed to be the most ambitious and the most willing to struggle to achieve their dreams...

Duets are beautiful. I don't like glee but I love this poem. The visuals and the feelings in this are so deep, but they don't attack the reader. Its a very thin line to walk and you did so very well.

this is so breathtakingly beautiful! i agree, glee can be so inspiring! don't worry about the length! it was great, and i was wanting to read more by the end of it, as always with your work. lol
