Fair Maiden

Fair Maiden

A Poem by Chelle H
"

A man with a kind proposal to a woman of royal blood

"

Oh fair maiden, take my name.

I am simple, small, a weak little man

who deserves nothing more than

a swipe of the blade cross my neck.

My cries echo down the streets

As I pray without answer and propose only questions.

I have failed my kingdom, my family,

my lady I have failed you

and I can only sit here today at your feet,

begging like the dog that I am

for some semblance of mercy from this hellish land.

Please, amuse my ramblings for only a second.

It is too much to ask yet I must,

betraying the only sense of morality in me as I say:

Take my name,

for though my chances are slim,

I will be here.

You will die for your sins.
