I Survived

I Survived

A Poem by MarcusFrias

You are a warrior

My knight in shining armor

You fight, day and night

As if you’ve never heard of light

You’ve never seen failure

And never felt fright

You can’t even close your eyes at night

The sweetest of lullabies only bring tears

And the darkest of times only bring fear

When the sun comes up

And the birds begin to chirp

I can see the gleam of light

Defeating the black bars that have held you tight

You throw punches

But yet receive gashes

You know only right

But only see wrong

You are a fighter

Who had the courage

To fall, and get up

Here is the day

That you once hoped for

Your alive, you fought, and succeeded

All those moments

Spent collecting numerous clovers

Are now well worth it

You’ve defeated Breast Cancer

And now you pass along the only four leaf clover you ever had

In hope that someone just like you

Gets to live life

Full of laughter and joy

And gets to see light after being filled with darkness

I would recommend compressing it a bit, but it is a nice poem.
Is it a tribute to someone you know?
