I came home today feeling all beaten inside

Nothing had gone right you could see it in my eyes

As soon as I walked into the house I could tell you knew

You stopped what you were doing and put the dishes down

Right to my side and held me in your arms

You said you would never let go

That we could get away from here

If that's what I needed you really didn't care

As long as we are together you said

We would always find whatever we needed

To make him see the light in my eyes

What you never knew cause I never did tell

Was what kept me here on earth

Was not the money or glamour, the fame or fortune

But just the simple midnight walks we made

When we walked along the beach,

Talking about nothing or fantasizing about our future

And all the things we would do and the money we would make

But the only thing that really ever mattered

Was your hand holding mine, our fingers intertwined

Or your arms wrapped around me to make my day better

All I need to ever see is just that light in your eyes.
