Few Who KnowA Poem by metaltylahA little something for my sisterThe key into the lock, And I open our front door The light comes through, Have I been here before? My family’s gathered round, I don’t know what they’ll say But then I see their eyes unfocused, They don’t see me anyway I hold my mother’s hand so tight, But she doesn’t know I’m there My father stares unblinkingly, I do not think he cares My brother is passed out drunk, His eyes are shut tight He doesn’t feel me standing here, Just like every other night My sister looks me in the eyes, And I watch her tears flow She’s feeling this pain too, She’s one of the few who know © 2011 metaltylahAuthor's Note
