Normandy

A Poem by metaltylah
"

D-Day

"
Again the waves,

come in from the sea.

Again the bullets,

come flying in,

as we fall beneath.

My comrades,

to their deaths they run.

to their maker, toward those dirty huns.

I volunteered for this fight,

thinking it a great delight.

To fight for my country I surely will,

those Nazi b******s I'll surely kill.

Of God why do you let the bullets fly?

Another sweep of lead my best friends die.

The machine gun heart beat,

so close, so near.

Why I'm here is no longer clear.

Why are we dying in the sand,

of some one elses, far away land?

What will this loss of life accomplish?

The total Nazi empire demolished.

Again come bullets, again like the rain.

Dear God don't let my death be in vain.
