Her fears

Her fears

A Poem by One Metallic Teardrop

Thanatopphobia- a fear of death,

They told her it was unrealistic, everyone has to die,

"its just part of the cycle" they said but that just made her cry.

She sits up at night while everyone is quiet,

She tries not to think, or there'd be no way she'd get by it.

Anxiety grabs onto her throat leaving her without air.

The thought of losing them was always just too much to bare.

She lets those heavy tears slide down her wet cheaks

Hoping she hasn't woke them up with her frequent little peeps.

Then the girl thinks of life after they have left.

The tears come faster now and so does the loss of breath.

She tries to breath deeply but the result is simply shallow,

Theres no way she'll get to sleep tonight, much less become mellow.

There's nothing left for her to do except just let it pass.

She will wake with puffy eyes and then cover it with a mask.

Sometimes it's better not to tell them about her unrealistic fears.

it's even more important not to tell them about her constant tears.
