Human

Human

A Poem by messytessa

He always believed in me.
He helped me lay every brick,

But then told me I was not allowed in his home.

And when they ask,

I will tell them,

This is what it means to love a boy,

who is scared of the blood in his own heart.

I pounded on his door with my tiny fists,

In the middle of the night

when I knew he would be sleeping.

I cried for him to give back every part of me I gave him,

I wrote on my skin all the I love you's
I could never whisper in his ears
And when they ask,
I will tell him,
This is what happens
when you are scared to be human.
