Constellations

Constellations

A Poem by messytessa

Like a land unbeknownst to me,
a traveler lost without her map
I became my own stranger I was warned not to talk to
into the night I called
body come back
body be mine.

From birth my skin was inked
with a connect the dots
He followed the speckles from my waist to my breasts
and I remember what it is to be
a person
and not an object.

How you convey your meaning is incredibly effective. Your language and rhythm is euphonious, it really captivated my attention and allowed me to truly experience the scheme that you describe. Your approach is brave, speaking of themes and subjects that are knowingly frail and brittle. I especially enjoyed the syntactical variety. You string your phrases in different lengths allowing for a whole or even a conceptual body to manifest.
