beat and broken

beat and broken

A Poem by mercy party

with a pitchfork in my side
you can't say i never tried
i'm beat and broken
i dragged my feet along
your roadside for too long
beat and broken
this could be a landmark day
the one i needed and i prayed
to find a way to let you know
before they deal the fatal blow
the burn of turpentine
in my veins all of the time
i've lost control
as times have gotten hard
in this haunted shipyard
i call my soul
don't want to go to the field today
'cause i'm not going out that way
the cold criminal past
catches up with you so fast
never free
so don't you even bother with me
you might as well just call a priest
i was once a good seed
but somewhere, someone
got the best of me.

This is amazing poetry. A feel a down and out Jazz song.

The above lines stuck with me. I tell people. In life. We must get down and dirty sometimes. No perfect life. Just us struggling and surviving. Powerful and worthwhile poetry my friend. I liked this one a lot.

How did I not see this one yet? Love every element of this one. I always read your poems as songs cause I'm sure that's what they'll be one day and this one would be awesome!

Reminds me of Volbeat... trust me its a compliment lol

Oh s**t....did you listen to it?
I got from this a tale such as Cool Hand Luke. A man in prison on the chain gang.

Wow. that is an AWESOME stanza

This whole thing is oddly...disturbing while being somewhat defiant and regretful all at the same time.

Lots of emotions swirling beneath the words here.
