TRAGIC

TRAGIC

A Poem by mercrutio
"

The most popular love stories are edged with tragedy. Unfortunately, for me, that tragedy eats the edges like fire.

"
Crushing roses and mistletoe with pestle and mortar;
Ferment the poison into wine, a chaser for the feeding.
From the cage to the plate, feast on my weight in gold
While my body starves, feeding on lemons dipped in salt.
Turn my flesh and blood to something worthwhile.
The caresses and kisses" strewn petals that catch fire.
Eat shery-coloured seeds from between her lips;
Paid the price of mausoleum and service;
It’s body, limp and lame, abandoned with glazed eyes.
This love holds the weight of an empty bouquet.
Kissing feet and kissing rings, adorn the lips
All for the sweetness of nothing.
