The China Doll

The China Doll

A Story by Meredith

So still, so relaxed the doll sat on a hard wooden self. The wood of the maple tree my grandma left her. The china doll. Her eyes as blue as the bluebirds dancing happily in the woods. The bonnet made from silk of the gentle silk worm. Her hair made of twigs of an abandoned birds nest. Her face made of china, a china doll. Still she sat there not one move. I still wait for the day she comes out to play.

A simple yet pleasing observation that hints at much more than what meets the eye. Very nice writing, Meredith.
