What I wish I wasA Poem by Madeleinethis is just a random poem I wroteGetting up at two in the morning and walking downstairs To make hot cocoa and, Share it with no one but my thoughts. Lying under the stars Looking up, Wondering how anything could Even be significant In this universe I wear all black, With neon yellow converse My hair is twelve different colors And sooo untidy I’ll get up at three to paint My walls, My parents know better than to question me, They’ll get answers That make less sense than silence I’ll go to museums with my friends, And settle the tab at our favorite diner Sleepovers so often That I'm with others more often than Being alone I’ll have my first art show At the young age of seventeen It’s not what people expect When they look At me I’ll walk around aimlessly, Waiting for others to arrive When they do- No one thinks That the gangly girl, With rainbow hair Could’ve painted something that nice My friends spot me The second they walk in. Random strangers I’ve never even met Are looking at my art. The moment Six-thirty strikes The curator -Marie- Clinks a fork on her Champagne glass And introduces Me. Afterwards, I don't remember much We all went to The diner And toasted me with their Root beer floats When I finally get home It's too late to do Anything But sleep I listen to heavy metal Not paying attention To the actual band Just the song I will spray paint murals In the garage, And sketch people From the bus stop My ceiling is black With glow in the dark dots There are posters everywhere I baby-sit And mow lawns, Sometimes watch pets While their parents are away My desk is never clean My snake curls around My shoulders When I do work I'm in a band We meet every Tuesday And Friday. I play the drums Or sometimes sing I'm not dating- But that's okay© 2017 Madeleine |
