We Fell the Best We Could

We Fell the Best We Could

A Poem by Natalie

These things happen so fast.

We change before our very eyes

Without the knowledge of pondering “whens”

And so we’ll find another way

To carry on with burdened days…

Things used to be so right

All was placed in line with time

But then we found a ditch

And suddenly we all fell in,

And the world soon joined us.

Did you come to watch me fade?

Or to break my fall so that I wouldn’t

Throw life away?

Or did you come to help us?

To help us get back up and

To take away the weight?

You see

I’m standing on the border line of life and death

So take this chance

Just take my hand, and we’ll dance through the night

Behind the moon, and behind the stars,

Behind the world, and behind our scars

And we’ll look back to

 See what we’ve done

Before the walls break down,

Before I give and…

So take a drink and

Take a bow while

They clap and cheer, just for my frown

And if I join their big parade

Then maybe I’ll fight for just one more day.
