Retirement Plan

Retirement Plan

A Poem by Gerald Parker

you want money for your retirement
buy a car park
we disapproved but paid anyway

got into the cinema
too early
had to sit through the adverts

noticed people watching them
why would they do that
they've come to see a film

then they go home
and watch more adverts
why would they do that

because they accrue wasted time
like it's part of the policy
like it gains interest

like years from now they'll share a smirk
with the other retirees
a je ne regrette rien sort of smirk
.

Good stuff man.

There's not much to tell. I read a lot of poetry and I read my own poetry regularly. I hope other people read it and derive as much pleasure out of it as I do. My output is small, about 110 poems as I.. more..
