Friday Poetry Circle

Do I know Mad Malcolm?
Yes, and we still talk about him
at our weekly meetings.
Connie’s usually the one
who starts, reminding us
about the time when
he brought in a poem
to share but, really weird,
he’d painted it onto a canvas
he’d specially braced,
all proper professional-like.

He reckoned he’d packed in
a lifetime’s experience,
good Samaritan attentive
as he was to every cry,
his backwash of starry similes
radiating wisdom
from the beginning of time,
his beaded metaphors glistening
on tingling telephone wires
like raindrops of succour,
and all that.

Derek - he has to get over
his fit of giggling first -
tells how Malcolm sneaked it
into Tate Modern
and saw him lurking in a corner,
miming a hooded statue
scowling at the visitors
as they silently shuffled past him,
(who comes up with these crazy exhibits?)
till the gallery closed.

Mavis always maintains
he muttered something
unrepeatable about Philistines,
wrenched his poem off the wall
and sulked all the way home.
Back? No, he’s never been back,
but we still talk about him.

Your writing have ordinary magic in describing or orinary things which they seems quiet extraordinary. I like how you describe each person behaviour in comic and also tragic way. It's quiet enchanting in fresh way to give information about someone else . I can feel simulate style of writing like Raymond Carver. I quiet enjoyed and it's have own unique of seeing reality.


P. S. At your bio i saw it you don't get too much reviews. I think it's quiet common thing here . One way how get rewievs is to give so many reviews how you can. But they must be always superpositive and you will get back response but how it will be honest . I really don't know. Just look on so called top writers here they just exchange praises and always said you are my best friend. I stop really care about reviews here. I always give review only if i like something. I think that's best way. If my poetry is great i will be no wasting my time here. I will be out there have my official publish of my poetry.

I think I was using it to put my own frustration about the lack of reviews into words. I find it difficult to review work on this site partly because I don't find much I can be gushing and positive about. Sorry to anyone else reading this and sorry for sounding elitist. I can just say for this. I was also joined this site around 2013. That time was actually get review more easy and they were far more honest and quiet helpful then this days. Actually just one person giving me reviews which are quiet deep and honest. If i get reviews it's like very good poem etc. But actually nothing saying about what i wrote and what they fel or what they think should be improve. I think is better don't get reviews then get response like this.



All the great writers at begging never get attention . They was always overlooked. So actually thats can make you happy cause maybe you are great poet too. All the best . If i again see something what i like in your writing i will write some response.
