SubornedA Poem by D. Alex Birdto suborn: to induce secretly to do an unlawful thingI
feel teeth have been secretted into my heart, a
jumble of sharpness and my
natural motions cut me to pieces. My
heart has grown jaws to accommodate them.
A
jumble of sharpness, and to
give them order, hold them in line, my
heart has grown jaws to accommodate them, give
them some useful occupation.
To
give them order, hold them in line, and
when coals were secretted into my heart, give
them some useful occupation. It
learned to spit fire.
And
when coals were secretted into my heart, this
seemed reasonable as well. It
learned to spit fire, though
I have since spent my days diverting my heart,
this
seemed reasonable as well. Away
from loved ones, and so it gnaws, though
I have since spent my days diverting my heart toward
burnt pieces of me instead.
This
seemed reasonable as well. I
feel teeth have been secretted into my heart. Though
I have since spent my days diverting my heart, my
natural motions cut me to pieces. © 2013 D. Alex Bird |
