Hidden TreasureA Poem by Mel OliveiraMade for WBC contest. It all began with the pair of pink-striped socks That, by accident, I found in an old moving box Hidden in the attic beneath a bunch of junk Right in the corner, next to the old trunk The socks weren’t mine, that, I knew for sure I would never wear something so demure But whose they were I could not guess And that alone left me in great distress I moved around, searching through and though For something in those boxes to give me a clue And so much more I was surprised to find Like someone’s history, in those boxes was confined I put it all together and at once I was astound I knew now whose possessions I had found My sweet late grandmother, in a picture, I could see With a big smile, pink-striped socks, holding me. © 2010 Mel OliveiraReviews
