Hidden Reminders

Hidden Reminders

A Poem by Mell

I bit the inside of my mouth twice in the last hour,

Sometimes I can’t help it.

My teeth seem clumsy,

But my lips hold them back.

So within my jaw they wait

for a chance to strike again.

To leave scars, constant reminders.

Indentations of past mistakes.

Wounds that cannot ever truly heal,

They are the best kind.

I woke up yesterday and oh, the pain.

I woke up today and oh, the guilt.

I’ll wake up tomorrow and be somewhere unrecognizable

Very enjoyable and profound... yes we must be willing to let go of past failures if we plan on succeeding in the future.
