Chapter 2: Just Give It Up

Chapter 2: Just Give It Up

A Chapter by xxParamoreLoverxx

Tap Tap Tap, I tapped my fingers against the cold, hard, marble colored desk. I barely listened to my teacher, Mr. Kelesko . The most boring person in all of this cold earth. I should probably apologize for my cold and cruel attitude. I've gone into a deep state of depression after Matt's death. I didn't choose to be, it just sort of happened. Y'know? I guess I'm not making any sense, but it seems as if I never make any sense anymore. Why can't my life just be normal!? I slammed my fists, silencing the teacher and the rest of my class.
"Miss. Managerial, is something wrong?" Mr. Kelesko asked in his deep and monotone voice. His voice had little to no emotion.
"No, Mr. Kelesko," I murmerd quietly.
"What? Speak up!" He demanded.
"I said no," I growled.
"Hey, the b***h talks," said the school's biggest inconsiderate jerk ever. Eric Johnston. He asked me out in freshman year. I told him I'd rather die then go out with him.
"That's enough Eric. Nobody asked for comments," Mr. Kelesko said.
"Whatever," Eric said picking away at a hang nail. What a pariah, or at least he will be when he realizes that none of his friends even want to be near him.
"You're such a jerk, Eric," Arabella said.
"I know," Eric stated.

"And you're alright with that?" Arabella exclaimed.
"Yes."
"Why can't you kids just get along?" Mr. Kelesko finally said. I resumed tapping my fingers along my desk as Arabella and Eric fought. Mr. Kelesko had enough and he snapped.
"Okay! That's enough! I'm sick and tired of you kids-" Before he could finish, the bell had rung. I got my books and almost made it out the door. "Scarlett and Eric, stay." He said.
"What did I do?" I ask.
"Don't give me an attitude. Sit down both of you."  Eric gave me a dirty look and I gave him one back. I wasn't to fond of this either. Arabella and I had plans after school. I guess those were going to get canceled.
"I'm busy Mr. Kelesko. I have plans after school with Arabella," I said.
"Are you two still trying to find Matt's killer? Just give it up!" By this point, the whole school knew about me trying to find my brother's killer. But I don't care. Who's going to stop me.

"That's enough. You both will receive a detention tommorw morning." And that is what made me snap. Tommorw is Saturday, and I am very busy.

Um. Can I be frank?
I really liked the first chapter. As I said, it seemed pretty realistic and deep.
But for some reason, all the magic and enigma that was in the first chapter is virtually non existent here, save for the first two paragraphs. Those are good. Don't change a thing.

I would consider maybe re-writing the dialogue. I dunno, it just seemed a little forced and a bit too immature. Like, maybe in middle school. MAYBE. But I highly doubt that even freshmen dabble like that. I mean, that kinda level of immaturity is left behind in middle school.

Eric seems like a complex character, mostly because he comes off as an a*****e. But I doubt any normal guy would just be that absurdly filled with douchebaggery.

Also, is Mr. Kelesko the one who asks Scarlett if she's still trying to find Matt's killer? Because if so, then that man needs to be fired for being inconsiderate, telling her to give up.

But her interior monologue is amazing. It's so brief. So concise. So profoundly poignant for a fourteen year old girl, it's deep. I love the final two sentences and how they end the chapter.

Overall, I enjoyed it. Can't wait to read more.
