Growing HungryA Poem by Meliss@kWe learn something new every day
Dear Today, Dear Past,
It's been a month now, Since I moved to this town, So small and broken from society. My days run together As early mornings disappear into setting suns, And the work for each day Is never fully done. Out here, I'm surrounded by nature, Beauty and green, While 20 minutes from home are busy stores, Busy people, Busy things. I stay busy on the ranch, that's for sure, But it's the kind of busy That can give a broken heart a cure. You learn to appreciate hard work, When you're working in the heat, Because nothing is better than a glass of water And the cool, blowing AC. It's strange, almost eerie, How two seperate worlds Create my one reality, But I don't see myself anywhere else... This is my home. I am sore, but I'm alive, And just like that old man said -The other night- "Hard work makes you tired, And sometimes grows you weak, But in the right moment You grow hungry, And that's when you learn To appreciate small things." Until Tomorrow, Yours Truly © 2016 Meliss@kReviews
