Epilogue

Epilogue

A Poem by Lissa

You look

   once

     twice

 three times

at me.

Tell me,

did I change?

No.

I didn't change

the three times you looked,

because I've spent a lifetime

changing already.

You see

me now,

not then.

All you see now

is a shell.

You missed

the life I had

in my eyes,

the spark

of wonders to be discovered.

Now I am dim

and dusty,

forgotten on a shelf.

You missed my story,

the action

and the loss.

And now,

with a glance at me,

you look

  once

    twice

 three times,

all you'll see

is an epilogue,

for the story

of who I used to be.

very nice! I like the idea of an epilogue, and it being the future almost, that this narrators spurned lover will not be a part of!
